ABOUT US

The Really Excellent Design Company opened its doors in 1993. It came from a partnership in Stagewright Australia, a much-valued theatrical production company. Our services were quickly utilised by such clients as the department store David Jones and Australian icon Barry Humphries.

RED Director, Derrick Cox has worked on hundreds of themed projects, including designing over 90 stage productions and has been in the industry since the early 80's. Evolving from a signwriter to a production designer and scenic painter after graduating from the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) in 1984 where he studied set, prop, & costume design.

Recently taking time out to study with The Interior Design Academy to add to his design skills. Derrick said, " I love the fact that I can now implement the same visual trickery in peoples homes and commercial properties that I have been enjoying on the stage".

Derrick has been the recipient of the C.O.N.D.A AWARD, for Excellence in Professional Technical Achievement. Production Design. "The Real Thing" Hunter Valley Theatre Company.
