Murals

Sometimes people see a theatrical backdrop that we might have painted and think, well if they can do that, they ought to be able to paint a fairy grotto on my daughters bedroom wall. Yes, it's a pleasure, we enjoy painting murals in private homes or shops because we know it will live a life much longer than any TV or theatre show. Tromp l'oeil, or Trick of the Eye, is also fun; recently a customer wanted me to paint a garden scene on the internal wall of her home/office, so she would have a room with a view. I suggested we make a proper looking timber window frame and include painted open windows, she liked the idea that any guests would be tricked into believing, at least for a moment, that she really did have a magnificent garden estate out the back of her small Alexandria cottage. Her dog, staring up at the window was painted in upon request. What fun, and a great conversation starter.
